Opal is Amon's partner and fellow Gelphon. They are sworn to protect and guard the royal Princess Nanandia. Opal looks upon the princess as her own daughter and is constantly concerned for her safety. Her sympathy lies with this young gelph, bound by royal decree to marry a Lord from another planet, who Nan despises and fears. Opal wishes Nan had taken her into her confidence, especially since she has know her since birth, but understands that Nan did not want anyone else to suffer from her risky decision to flee and hide for the rest of her life. Both Amon and Opal will die to protect Nanandia and are willing to stay with her if they should find her; making them targets for destruction by those who are hunting the princess.
